Trying to control everything (often through excessive planning and overthinking) is a response to uncertainty. It often starts in youth as a trauma response—a way to feel safe in a chaotic environment—and can continue throughout life whenever life or business triggers those old feelings of being unsafe.
The truth is, you have far less control than you may want to believe. It can be scary, but also freeing when you can learn to be with uncertainty without fear. Here are some prompts to begin shifting your thoughts about control.
