4 tips from Week 2 of the Audio Summit
The second week of the Feminist Founders Audio Summit wraps up today, and the guests have been talking about everything from decolonizing time to feminist parenting.
Here’s one tip from each of this week’s guests to give you a glimpse into the genius that you’ll find in this incredible series:
Tip 1: Rethink Time
urges us to rethink our relationship with time, which has been shaped by colonial and capitalist structures. “Colonization, in the simplest terms, is the separation of people from the land and from each other,” Ixchel explains. This is why we often turn time into a rigid, commodified concept.
To begin decolonizing your relationship with time, Ixchel suggests, “Find a spot where you can sit and just observe the world around you on a day-to-day basis.” This practice helps disrupt the rigid, clock-driven pace of colonial time and reconnects you with a more fluid, natural rhythm.

]Tip 2: Embrace Pleasure
Goddess Erica reminds us that pleasure is not just a luxury—it’s a necessity. “Pleasure is freedom,” Erica asserts. She challenges the idea that pleasure is indulgent or unnecessary, explaining that it’s actually “a requirement for our survival.” By prioritizing pleasure, we reclaim our bodies, our time, and our lives from systems that seek to extract as much from us as possible.
Whether it’s the simple joy of completing a task or the deeper, liberatory pleasure of setting boundaries and saying no to things that don’t serve you, embracing pleasure is an act of reclaiming your power.

Tip 3: Cultivate Enthusiasm
offers a refreshing perspective on enthusiasm, which she defines as much more than relentless positivity. "Enthusiasm isn’t about blind positivity and blind optimism," Ellie explains. "It’s about wanting to do things even when the going gets tough." In a world that often feels overwhelming, this approach to enthusiasm can help you stay motivated and engaged, even in difficult times.
Ellie also emphasizes the connection between enthusiasm and authenticity. Embracing what excites us, despite societal pressures to conform, is an act of reclaiming our true selves.

brings critical insights into the mental load many women carry, especially in balancing business ownership with parenting. "Every mother I know complains about the mental exhaustion of managing all the tiny details of making a household run smoothly," Jo-Ann says.
Jo-Ann also points out that while “girl power” is important, it’s not enough to prepare girls for the realities of a sexist world. "Girl power is wonderful for building a can-do attitude and self-respect for the female gender, but it doesn't prepare girls for the hidden biases and unfair or unsavory behavior they're going to experience," she explains.
